A calm 10-minute typing activity for children
Children do not have to type fast to make meaningful progress. First they need to learn which hand and finger belong to each key. The 24 Kids lessons introduce keys gradually and reuse earlier keys, while tests and games provide different ways to practise. Ages on the learning paths are suggestions, not strict entry requirements.
- Minutes 1–2: Find F and J by touch and check home-row finger positions with the finger placement chart.
- Minutes 3–7: Complete part of the next Kids lesson, stopping to correct repeated mistakes without rushing.
- Minutes 8–10: Choose a short activity from Kids Games or reflect on which keys felt easier today.
What about stars and locked lessons?
Stars celebrate completed practice and accuracy. Lessons unlock progressively; a learner can use the existing parent/teacher option when a different lesson order is needed. Do not treat missing stars as failure—repeat practice when the child is ready.
What about privacy and progress?
Core Kids activities work without an account. Guest progress can remain on that browser, so clearing its storage may erase local history. Families who need a record can check Kids Progress and use the available backup options.
Make practice comfortable: allow breaks, avoid forcing long sessions, and stop if a child reports pain or persistent discomfort. The goal is relaxed, reliable keyboard skill—not a race against classmates.
