How to use this online keyboard
- Click a letter or number to insert it into the editor.
- Use Shift for the next capital or shifted symbol. Caps Lock keeps letter capitals on until switched off.
- Click inside the editor to place the cursor, or select a passage to replace it with the next key.
- Use Backspace or Delete to remove text, Enter for a new line and Space between words.
- Copy the finished text or download it as a UTF-8 text file.
When is a mouse keyboard useful?
A clickable keyboard can help with a short message when a physical key is inconvenient to use, or let a learner explore letters and symbols before practising on hardware. Touch users can tap the same controls. The keyboard uses real buttons with accessible labels, so controls can also receive keyboard focus. It is an additional input option, not a complete assistive-technology replacement.
What this tool can and cannot do
It writes only in the editor on this page. A website cannot use these buttons to type directly into another application or your operating system’s sign-in screen. Copy the result into the destination you choose. This English US layout is not a translator or an input method for every language. Physical typing and pasted Unicode text are accepted in the editor, but the displayed keys remain English QWERTY.
Editing and privacy
The tool does not automatically store drafts, upload text, or send text to account sync. This page omits the site’s session-replay analytics. Copy requires your browser’s clipboard permission; if it is unavailable, select the text and use your browser’s copy command. Download creates a plain .txt file without document formatting. The editor has a 50,000-character limit. Undo restores recent virtual-key edits, not a complete document history.
Online keyboard or keyboard tester?
Use the keyboard tester to check whether your physical keys register. Use the keyboard layout guide for the purpose of each key group. Clicking virtual keys does not demonstrate touch-typing speed; use a typing test with your normal input method for that task. If you need an on-screen keyboard throughout your computer, use the accessibility keyboard provided by your operating system.
Small tasks work best
For a quick name, sentence or note, clicking keys is straightforward. For long writing, a physical keyboard, your system’s accessibility tools or another suitable input method may be more comfortable. Keep a copy of important work before closing the tab. No account is required to use this editor.
