A keyboard tester is useful when a key feels inconsistent, repeats unexpectedly, stops responding, or behaves differently after cleaning, travel, a spill, a keyboard replacement, or connecting a USB/Bluetooth keyboard. It is also a quick way to verify left/right modifier keys and numpad input before a typing test.
