Kids typing test guide
Practise whole words before longer sentences
This untimed passage test is suited to children who can type individual letters but pause between words. Familiar vocabulary lets them practise word recognition, spaces and consistent finger use.
For example, when typing cat or sun, look at the word once, type each character carefully, then press Space when the next word begins. Do not rush through a mistake just to finish.
There is no countdown on this activity: completing the text accurately is a more useful goal than comparing it with a short timed test.
Try this practice routine
- Review a few home-row keys.
- Read the next word before starting it and keep your eyes on the screen.
- Finish the passage, review the result and repeat only if hands still feel comfortable.
