Three ways to practise

Letters A–Z begins with home-row keys. Forest Words grows from short animal and nature words into richer vocabulary. Letters + Words mixes both skills.

Five gentle levels

Travel from Sunny Clearing to the Wisdom Tree. Each level adds a few targets and a little challenge while keeping the pace suitable for children and new typists.

Friendly feedback

See score, accuracy, streak, chances, time and trail progress while you play. The final result appears inside the forest with replay, another mode and another game choices.

Typing games for older learners too

Curious Forest is the gentle kids and beginner choice in a wider downloadable collection. Teens and students can try the faster Neon Type Sprint, while adults can practise useful work vocabulary and careful phrases in the Focus Typing Challenge. Visit the offline typing games hub to compare and download all three.

A free downloadable typing game for PC and laptop

Curious Forest is designed for families and schools looking for a typing game for PC, laptop or classroom computers. The online version starts in the browser, while the downloadable edition can be kept on a Windows, Mac or Linux computer for offline practice. Both editions contain the same five levels, three modes, original forest artwork, sound controls and child-friendly word collection.

How to use the offline game

  1. Select Download Offline Game and save the ZIP file.
  2. Extract the complete folder instead of opening individual files inside the ZIP.
  3. Double-click index.html. Windows users may also use the included launcher; Mac users can open the included command file or index.html.

No installer is used, and no internet connection is needed after download. Keep the HTML, CSS, JavaScript and forest image together in their extracted folder. This makes the game portable enough for a home PC, school laptop or USB drive, subject to the device owner’s normal policies.

Made for kids and beginning typists

The first level uses short, familiar targets. Later levels introduce longer words such as butterfly, discovery and wilderness. A shuffle system varies the sequence, and each new target moves to a safe random position in the play area. This keeps attention active without making the interface confusing. There are no advertisements, purchases, chat rooms or account prompts inside the game.

Works on desktop and mobile browsers

The online game adapts to phones and tablets and includes an Open Keyboard button for touch screens. For meaningful touch-typing practice, a physical keyboard on a PC, Chromebook, Mac or laptop gives the best experience. Pause, restart, sound and fullscreen controls are included, and switching away from the page automatically pauses an active round.

Private progress on your device

Best scores are saved only in the browser’s local storage. Curious Forest does not ask a child for a name, email address or profile. Clearing browser data may remove saved best scores, but the game itself remains ready to play.
