Which typing goal will you try?

Choose a goal close to your current pace

Start with a baseline timed test, then select a reachable next milestone. The 10 and 20 WPM tests support early keyboard learning; 30–60 WPM offer intermediate checkpoints; 70–100 WPM provide demanding targets for fluent typists. These are practice groupings, not age grades or universal job standards.

Speed and duration are different

A 40 WPM goal describes the pace you want to reach. A ten-minute test describes how long you type. Select the duration on the goal page instead of comparing a short sprint with a longer assessment.

What counts as reaching a goal?

Complete the chosen timer, meet the displayed Net WPM target and reach the selected accuracy goal. The default accuracy target is 95%. A practice goal does not automatically award a certificate.

A useful next step for students and teachers

Use a fixed duration and accuracy target when comparing class practice. Record the same settings for each attempt and focus on improvement alongside speed. Personal goal results are practice evidence, not supervised examination results.
