What this practice test follows
Practice for the National Testing Network (NTN) typing test used by participating public-safety agencies. NTN states that its typing test lasts five minutes, uses displayed paragraphs, and reports adjusted words per minute based on speed and accuracy.
Who should use it?
Applicants to police, fire, emergency communications, corrections, transit, and other agencies that use NTN typing scores.
How to prepare
- Type continuously for the full five minutes.
- Pay attention to capitalization and punctuation.
- Check your target department’s job listing for its required or preferred typing score.
Benchmark
Agency-specific score requirement. NTN provides the typing score, but agencies decide how they use it. Check the job listing for any required minimum.
