Type with no colored correct/wrong characters and no word highlight. Measure WPM and accuracy while the passage stays visually neutral.

Typing without highlight means the passage does not turn into a sequence of green, red, or highlighted words while you type. Your WPM, accuracy, errors, and consistency are still measured, but the text stays visually plain until the result appears.
Learn the keyboard first. Use the guided touch typing course until your finger placement and common key reaches feel familiar. Plain-text practice is more useful after you can type without searching for every key.
Guidance is valuable while learning, but some typists become dependent on the screen confirming every keystroke. A no-highlight session asks you to trust the keyboard pattern you have learned and pay more attention to the sentence itself. If accuracy drops sharply, return to guided practice instead of forcing speed.
You do not need a separate tool for every variation. The Custom Typing Test Studio already supports an untimed mode for typing without a timer, strict no-Backspace rules, custom text, punctuation choices, and optional keyboard/finger guidance. Use this page specifically when you want typing without visual character highlighting.
Mistakes are recorded for the final accuracy result. They are intentionally not painted red while you type. Backspace remains available because no-highlight practice and no-backspace practice are different goals.
No. The passage remains visually neutral while you type. Errors are counted and shown in the result.
No. No-highlight practice removes screen feedback. No-look practice focuses on keeping your eyes away from the physical keyboard.
