Each completed name adds its illustration. At the stage finish, all discoveries appear together with their names in one underwater picture.
Travel through ten illustrated sceneries. Your completed collections stay in this browser, and another visit can add more sea life.
Ocean Explorer turns typing practice into an illustrated sea-life adventure. Type the displayed common name, including spaces, to collect its illustration. Correct characters turn green, while the next character stays marked. A mistake leaves you on the same character so you can correct it. New discoveries join the scenery instead of disappearing when a word is finished.
The vocabulary collection contains 91 sea-life names across ten imaginative scenes, from shrimp and sea stars to seahorses, turtles, whales, coral and seagrass. Each stage uses a shuffled deck of twelve names. You see the full stage deck before names repeat; recent discoveries are remembered locally to vary later visits. Once the first deck is complete, Adventure mode adds discovery phrases such as find blue tang and observe sea star. Calm mode keeps straightforward name practice.
Adventure stages last three minutes of active typing. After a stage with at least one discovery, the game presents every different name you completed in one illustrated scene and unlocks the next dive. The scenery stays visible for twelve seconds before the next stage begins. Choose Stay and admire to hold the scene, Next scenery to continue immediately, or Download scene to save a PNG picture.
Calm discovery removes word deadlines and the stage countdown. Collect eight different names to complete a stage. The collection cards below the game let you revisit completed sceneries, download their pictures and choose unlocked dives. Replay a stage to build a more complete collection; its saved scene combines discoveries from your completed visits. Leaving partway through saves typing results but does not unlock an unfinished scenery.
The category shown above each name helps you recognize broad groups. Coral, sea anemones and sponges are animals, even though their forms can resemble underwater plants. Seagrasses are flowering plants; kelp and sea lettuce are algae. These distinctions are supported by the NOAA ecosystem guide, NOAA kelp forest introduction and NOAA coral reef habitat guide.
These are stylized learning illustrations, not scientific identification drawings. Some common names refer to broad groups rather than a single species. The sceneries are imaginative collections: the coastal stage brings together animals from different regions, and the final mosaic combines life from several habitats. They do not claim that every pictured organism naturally lives together.
Use your physical keyboard directly, with no visible input box covering the scene. On a phone, tap Open keyboard and type the current name. The Space marker shows where a name has more than one word. Pasted text and automatic whole-word replacement do not complete discoveries. Escape pauses, and changing browser tabs pauses automatically. Sound can be switched off.
Word opportunities shorten gently in later stages, and longer names receive extra time. A missed opportunity simply starts a new name; it does not remove existing discoveries. The result screen offers practice for missed or mistyped names. Scene viewing time and paused time are excluded from WPM and active practice time. Completing a game is practice, not a typing certificate.
Completed scenery collections, unlocks and recent-name history are stored in this browser. Clearing site data or using private browsing can remove them. Game session results use the existing history system and supported account progress sync; the scenery album itself is not a cross-device account backup.
For finger placement, use the typing course. Improve weak keys with the Typing Speed Improver, measure sustained speed with typing tests, or explore wildlife in Ocean Explorer. Children can also visit the kids typing games.
