Typing Speed Certificate requirements

These requirements prevent the credential from becoming a meaningless participation badge.

Qualification criteria

  • Test duration of at least 5 minutes
  • At least 30 Net WPM (NWPM / NPWM)
  • At least 95% accuracy
  • At least 85% consistency
  • At least 650 correct characters

Net typing speed on the certificate

When this certificate is earned from a qualifying typing test, the certificate displays Certified Typing Speed as Net Words Per Minute (NWPM / NPWM), while also retaining Gross WPM, accuracy, errors, test duration, test date, certificate ID, and QR verification. We use “Net Words Per Minute (NWPM / NPWM)” rather than “Net Production Words Per Minute” because this is a typing-speed assessment, not a production-typing assessment.

Can the WPM or accuracy be edited?

No. Performance values are copied from the saved qualifying evidence and are not form fields.

What does the certificate verify?

It verifies that TypingTutor.Online created a record using the displayed locally saved lesson or test evidence. It is not proctored or independently accredited.

Can the certificate be verified on another device?

Yes. New adult certificates are recorded in TypingTutor.Online’s protected verification registry when they are created, while a local browser copy is also retained. Older certificates can also be verified when their existing server record is available or has been imported.
